playing with Lego Mindstorms

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
Because I'm interested in programming real things and not just making small softwares. This is an interesting competition.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
It can increase our knowledge and eventually make us come up with new ideas for new inventions.

Jasmine Santiago

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
Tech Prep. 1st Year Project, TSK 4th quarter project (vehicle)

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
I want to join this competition because this has been an opportunity given to me by God and by PSHS so I would never want to waste this. I want to know how far can I go, discover, learn and improve myself in this area.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
I think that robotics is a way to improve our lives by making it more comfortable and efficient. Robotics in our country is a key towards a better economic situation and technology advancement.

JP Bonifacio

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
FIRST Robotics Competition is my first take on the field of robotics.

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
This is going to be my first international competition and thorugh it I hope to find where my interests really lie.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
I imagine the world to be like the one in I, Robot. It may be from a science fiction story but maybe our generation can do something about it.

Kristina Medina

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
1st Year - Tech Prep, 2nd Year - Tech Skills - vehicle (toy car making)

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
At first, I was surprised with the invitation for the FRC that I received. But given this opportunity, I'm more than willing to join, give my best to whatever I have to do.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
They help us do tasks that we are incapable of doing. They help us save time and effort.

Cara Evangelista

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
I've played around with the LEGO Mindstorms.

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
It's a really good opportunity to apply previously learned skills and learn even more about technology. It's als a chance for us to interact with new people and travel.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
Robotics is being used more and more in manufacturing, medicine and other areas. Aside from that, skills learned from robotics are useful in our technology-based lives.

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
None

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
It looked nice.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
Manufacturing

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
First Year Tech Prep and Playing with Tamiya Cars when I was in elementary

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
I found it interesting and fun. Also with this kind of experience I will be able to measure how far I can go.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
Robots and machines improve the quality of life. It may also be the solution to all our problems especially economic problems here in the Philippines.

Benjo Rodriguez

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
Officially, I have none. However, I have had the privilege of learning programming in the PSHS, thanks to devoted teachers, and experienced assembling Zoids as a child.

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
With this rare opportunity knocking at my door, what a rude housekeeper I am not to welcome it! And besides, with this chance to represent the country in some international event also come the privileges of learning new things about the world and technology, sharing your (my) skills, gaining new friends, feeling the team spirit,... and the chance to travel :P.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
Applications: From media to space exploration, even in medicine, robotics has been portrayed as a magnificent science of varied benefits and of great potential. It has since aided our understanding of the universe, and will continue to do so, has made computing and communication easier, as well as has saved many lives. It is inevitable that the applications of this continuously evolving technology of robots will soon cover all aspects of living, serving the human race for the growing ease of life.

Josh Malapit

What projects in robotics are you involved/have been involved in?
The only robotics-related project I've been involved in was during one of our tech-skills projects.

Why do you want to join the FIRST Robotics Competition?
I joined because I thought that it was a good opportunity for me to learn new things.

What do you think are the ways that robotics can be applied to our daily living?
I think applications of robotics can be seen almost everywhere nowadays; from the small and seemingly simple devices we carry around, like the cellphone, to the most complex ones, like the space probes we send out to explore the universe. In my opinion, this change toward a more "high tech" world is inevitable.
